JP preparing to take part in elections, says Ershad

Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad yesterday said his party is preparing to take part in the next elections for the continuity of democracy.

"The country's political situation now appears to be very murky," said Ershad expressing his apprehension that the democratic system might be impeded if the opposition alliance boycotts the elections.

He was addressing a function at a local hotel marking the joining of filmmaker Badal Khandkar to Jatiya Party.

Ershad said that various conspiracies were being hatched to eliminate the Jatiya Party, but the conspirators need to understand that they would not be able to do any harm to the party.

Party leaders Kazi Zafar Ahmed, Ruhul Amin Hawlader, Anisul Islam Mahmud, Kazi Firoz Rashid and Noor-e-Hasna Lilly Chowdhury were present at the function.
