Teenager commits suicide in city


A college student allegedly committed suicide due to family dispute at the city's Sabujbagh area yesterday.

Suraiya Yasmin Tahmina, 17, a second year student at Motijheel Ideal School and College hanged herself from the shower stand of her bathroom at around 10:30am following an altercation with her parents, family sources said.

She was rushed to Dhaka medical College Hospital (DMCH) at 11:00am where doctors declared her dead, told the victim's father Mohammad Sohrab Uddin.

The body was sent to DMC morgue for autopsy.
