Three-game ban for Mahdavikia

SV Hamburg's Iranian international Mehdi Mahdavikia has been handed a three-match ban for violent conduct, the German Football Federation (DFB) disciplinary panel said Monday. Midfielder Mahdavikia was sent off in the 73rd minute of Hamburg's 1-1 draw with Bremen on Saturday after a crude tackle on Bremen's Brazilian playmaker Diego. Diego left the pitch with a knee injury and after watching television replays the DFB panel have decided on a three-match ban and a 5,000 euro fine for the Iranian midfielder.
