RU Correspondent
Two hundred and one teachers of Rajshahi University (RU) yesterday in a statement protested telecast of a documentary in the state-run Bangladesh Television (BTV) that distorts history of liberation war and undermines the contribution of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The teachers said the documentary was made with an ill motive to give a false idea to people that the War of Liberation was fought only by former president Ziaur Rahman and excluded the background history between 1948 and 1971. Referring to disgracing of Begum Mujib, they said the scriptwriter of the document is still dedicated on the Pakistani Ghost. The history of torture on Begum Mujib in Dhaka by Pakistani army was published and well known to all. They called the state-owned television authorities to ban the poor quality and erroneous documentary and not to telecast it in future. The RU teachers asked information minister and BTV authorities to seek an apology for broadcasting such a documentary.
