Money, valuables worth Tk 7 lakh looted from city house

A gang of robbers looted money and valuables worth Tk 7.1 lakh from a rented flat at a three-storey building at Uttara in the city yesterday.Eight robbers entered the building at Road-14 of Sector-12 at around 2:10am breaking open the grille of a window on the ground floor, police said. The armed gang then forced the housewife, Shamsunnahar, to open the doors of other rooms. The robbers tied up all the family members, took the keys of almirahs at gunpoint and took away Tk 1.14 lakh, 34.5 tolas of gold ornaments, three mobile phone sets, a camera and other valuables, said Syed Jewel, son of Shamsunnahar. Police and family members said the owner of the building is Matiur Rahman, father of Lt. Col. Badrul Ahsan, commanding officer of Rab-4.
