Anti-adulteration Drive
2 Ctg eateries, first food shop fined


A mobile court here yesterday in separate anti-adulteration drives fined two posh restaurants and one fast food shop around Tk 1.50 lakh for preparing, preserving and selling Iftar items in unhygienic condition.

Sources said the court fined a popular fast food shop Candy on the ground floor of Central Plaza at the city's GEC intersection Tk 1 lakh.

During the drive the court found that workers at the shop were preparing items about eight hours before the Iftar and preserving them uncovered in a most unhygienic condition in its narrow storeroom and kitchen.

The court fined Blossom Garden Restaurant at Dampara Tk 20 thousand and Chittagong Hotel and Biriani House at Agrabad area Tk 25 thousand for the same reason.

Chittagong Port Authority Magistrate Mohammad Munir Chowdhury led the drives with the help of Chittagong Metropolitan Police and Bangladesh Standard Testing Institute.
