One shot dead

One truck helper was shot dead by a gang of unidentified assailants at Shympur in the city yesterday afternoon.Ripon Miah, 22, a truck helper, of Pagla, Fatullah came to his aunt's house at Dhaka Match Factory in Shympur at 3:30pm. Just after his arrival, local miscreants calling him from home dragged him near a pond. They shot him in his hip and head and immediately fled away. Ripon was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition. Later, he succumbed to his injuries in the hospital at 9:30pm. Family sources said prior animosity might have led to attack.
