Clarification
The Birdem Officers' Welfare Association in a clarification on a report headlined 'Implement new organisational structure at Birdem' published in The Daily Star on September 24 said that speakers at the association's emergency general meeting did not demand fair audit to detect corruption and irregularities in Birdem.Instead, the speakers said that establishment of an 'Internal audit department' has been proposed in the new organisational structure to prevent corruption in Birdem. On contractual appointments, the speakers said that such appointments keep officers under constant threat of losing job and make them frustrated. They did not say that contractual appointments gave rise to corruption or irregularities, the clarification added.
