Auto-rickshaw drivers call strike in city Oct 15-16


CNG-run auto-rickshaw drivers will go on a two-day strike in the capital on October 15-16 to realise their 10-point demand, including implementation of their daily deposit of

Tk 300 to their owners as fixed by the government.

It was announced at a meeting of Bangladesh Auto-rickshaw Sramik League at its office in the city yesterday with its president M Shah Alam Chowdhury in the chair, said a press release.

Association General Secretary Insur Ali, M Azhar Ali, SM Sobhan, M Mosharraf Hossain, Hanif Khokon, M Mujibur Rahman and Zakir Hossain addressed the meeting.

They said the auto-rickshaw owners would have to shoulder the responsibility if any untoward incident occurs during the Oct 15-16 strike.
