Inter-sector BDR Qirat, Azan contests end


The concluding function of inter-sector Qirat and Azan competitions of the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) was held at the central mosque of Pilkhana here yesterday.

Director General of the BDR Major General Shakil Ahmed attended the function as the chief guest, said a press release.

Lance Naik Mizanur Rahman of the Rangpur sector stood first in the Qirat competition and Sipahi Abu Yusuf of the Rangamati sector first in the Azan contest. In the overall performance, the Rangamati sector won the championship and the Rangpur sector became the runner-up.

The two winners, who stood first in Qirat and Azan, will be sent to perform the coming holy Hajj.

The chief guest in his speech said recitation from the holy Quran and following its instructions are the duty of every faithful person. Arrangements of such competitions during the holy month of Ramadan will strengthen the spirit of the Muslim members of the BDR, he said.

Among others, the function was attended by deputy director general of the BDR SM Golam Rabbani, officers, JCOs and others.
