Amin 'ready' for challenge

In a new development in the ongoing macabre political drama in the country, former chief justice Mahmudul Amin Chowdhury reportedly told Bangabhaban yesterday that he has no objection to assuming the post of the chief adviser to the next caretaker government, according to a news broadcast aired by private TV channel ATN Bangla at 1:00am today.

He made the comment when a Bangabhaban official called him to find out his position on the matter.

The official asked the former chief justice whether he would feel 'embarrassed' like Justice KM Hasan to assume the post, since some quarters have reservations about him too.

In reply Justice Mahmudul Amin said he never felt 'embarrassed' in performing his professional duties and this time around also there will be no exception.

Following the exchange nobody from Bangabhaban further contacted the former chief justice, according to a source close to Justice Mahmudul Amin.
