Bangladesh envoy presents credentials to Gyanendra

Imtiaz Ahmed, the newly appointed ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal, presented his letter of credence recently to King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev at a simple ceremony at Narayanhity Royal Palace in Kathmandu.He also conveyed warm greetings and felicitations on behalf of the president and prime minister of Bangladesh to the king. The king reciprocated the greetings. The Bangladesh envoy referred to the king's visit to Bangladesh during the 13th Saarc Summit and his contribution to make it a success. The king also recalled his visit to Dhaka and warm hospitality extended by the government of Bangladesh to him and his delegation. King Gyanendra also felicitated Prof Muhammad Yunus for his winning this year's Nobel Peace Prize. Imtiaz Ahmed briefed the king about ongoing development activities in Bangladesh, particularly the achievements in social sectors like women empowerment, women education, access to drinking water, poverty alleviation and micro-credit.
