Remove CHT Dev Board chairman
Demands Khagrachhari JSS

Khagrachhari District Jana Sanghati Samity (JSS) yesterday submitted a memorandum to President and Chief Adviser to caretaker government Iajuddin Ahmed demanding implementation of its two-point demand.

These include removal of the chairman of Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board and handover of power to Regional Council for conducting a free, fair and fresh election.

Leaders and activists of district JSS and its front organisations went to the office of the deputy commissioner at 11.30am and handed over the memorandum to him for onward transmission to the President.

It was mentioned in the memorandum that Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board Chairman Wadud Bhuiyan MP was appointed by 4-party alliance government in 2001 defying the terms and condition of the peace accord.

During last five years Wadud and his fellow men were involved in various corruption, tender manipulation, crimes, and anti-social activities.

They also misappropriated crores of taka from the board, it added.

The memorandum said Wadud should be removed immediately, otherwise he will force the local people to cast their votes in favour of him in the coming polls.

The memorandum was signed jointly by district JSS President Rosomoy Chakma and Secretary Sudhakar Tripura.
