Biman ahead early


Bangladesh Biman rode on their all-star team to take solo lead in the Dutch-Bangla Bank First Division Chess League at the chess federation hallroom yesterday.

Grand Master (GM) Ziaur Rahman, GM Reefat Bin Sattar, International Master (IM) Abdullah Al Rakib and FIDE Master (FM) Mehdi Hasan all won their respective matches in the fourth round as Biman trounced Rajshahi Daba Unnayan Sangstha 4-0.

Defending champions Leonine Chess Club were forced to a two-all draw in their encounter with Chittagong Mohammedan as their foreign recruit Uzbek GM Saidali was beaten by IM Enamul Haque. Leonine's GM Niaz Murshed and GM Safin Shukhrat also drew their matches on the day.

Narayanganj City Chess Club, Destiny 2000 Limited, Farashganj Sporting Club and Faith Chess Club all won their respective games on the day.
