Different political and professional organisations yesterday threatened to enforce tougher movements if their demands for reforms in the Election Commission (EC) and removal of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) are not met by November 11. They will stage several demonstration programmes today to press home their demand. Bangladesh Awami Swechchhasebak League will lay a siege to the EC at 10:00am. The organisation will take out a procession from Agriculturists' Institute at Khamarbari in the city that will march towards EC. Left Democratic Front yesterday held a meeting at Paltan, where speakers said the president and chief adviser to the caretaker government is yet to prove his neutrality. If the caretaker government fails to reform the EC and electoral process on the basis of their 25-point, the front will press the government through forging tougher agitations from November 12. Left Democratic Front's Convener and polite bureau member Nurul Hasan presided over the meeting. Sammilita Ainjibi Samannaya Parishad will observe "Demand Day" today through different programmes across the country demanding resignation of the CEC. The Parishad will form a human chain in front of Supreme Court in the city at 1:00am. Shadhinata Chikitshak Parishad (SCP), an AL- backed doctors' organisation, yesterday at a meeting at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) urged the president to remove CEC MA Aziz immediately for the sake of a free and fair election. SCP DMCH leader Doctor Bidyut Barua, Lipon, Moni, Tanim and others spoke at the meeting. Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) in a joint statement expressed its solidarity with the demonstration programmes of different organisations.
