Bomb hoax at EC

Against the backdrop of tensed political situation, a bomb-like object, wrapped in red Scotch tape, triggered panic among the employees and visitors at the Election Commission (EC) and the Planning Commission offices in the city yesterday.The object was found lying abandoned on the roadside adjacent to the Planning Commission building, a few yards from the EC building. Both the buildings are located on the same compound at Agargaon. A sweeper of the Planning Commission first spotted it at about 1:30pm. On receiving information, a team of Detective Branch (DB) police rushed to the spot and inspected the object, which was later proved to be a fake bomb as sand and brick dust were found inside it.
