Dhaka have to wait to take five remaining Barisal wickets for an indefinite period as today's siege programme has postponed the fourth day's play at the Fatullah Stadium, after Mohammad Rafique's three-wicket burst put the hosts in the driving seat at the end of the third day of the Ispahani Mirzapore 8th National Cricket League yesterday.Barisal were set a challenging 247 to win after Dhaka were bowled out for 227 runs in their second innings. At the end of the day Barisal were reduced to 78 for five. Away at the Chittagong Divisional Stadium, the hosts were also in pole position to win their first encounter as Sylhet were forced to follow-on after being bowled out for a meagre 100 in their first innings. When they went to bat again, they reached 130 for two. Today's play in Chittagong is also under question due to the siege programme but the local police have confirmed security to the players but if situation worsens, the match will be shifted to Monday, according to match referee Rafiqul Alam when contacted over telephone last night. The entire day's play at the Rajshahi Divisional Stadium was called off due to rain and later, bad light. The hosts were leading by 9 runs on the second day. Dhaka V Barisal Barisal seamer Ishraq Sonnet scalped overnight batsman Anwar Hossain (9) early in the day. Test opener Javed Omar fell seven overs later to the left-arm medium-pacer Sajidul Islam and that opened up the Dhaka middle-order. Number seven Nadif Chowdhury then joined Marshall Ayub but their dangerous sixth wicket partnership was shut down by off-spinner Ali Arman Rajan who took the wicket of Marshall with the score on 182 in the middle session. After that Rajan ran through the lower order of the hosts, ending up with an impressive 5-25 in 12.5 overs. He was well supported by Sonnet and Arafat Salahuddin who took two wickets each. Set a gettable target of 247 runs, Barisal were again off to a decent start but Imran Ahmed fell for 18 to national paceman Shahadat Hossain. Veteran spinner Rafique came in as the first change and ripped through the top-order, taking three wickets and being involved in the run-out of Nasiruddin Faruq as well. Chittagong V Sylhet On a clear morning, national discard seamer Tareq Aziz took the first three wickets of the Sylhet first innings in his probing spell. The visitors never recovered from the early loss and slowly lost their way on the day, to be bowled out for exactly 100 in 40.1 overs. Tareq later came back and took the final wicket of the innings to have figures of 4-44. His new-ball partner Ashikur Rahman and off-spinner Sabbir Khan took two wickets each for the hosts. Only captain Rajin Saleh held fort as he hung around patiently for 26. Alok Kapali (11) and Ejaz Ahmed (12) were the only other batsmen who reached double figures. In their second innings, the visitors were comfortably placed at 130 for two when stumps were drawn early due to bad light. Opener Golam Rahman struck a patient 48 before being Sabbir's first victim. The right-arm spinner took both the wickets that fell in the second innings.
