Citizens urge caretaker govt

Leaders of the Combined Citizens Movement (CCM) and Peshajibi Samonnoy Parishad again urged the caretaker government (CG) to remove the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) MA Aziz and his associates to save the nation from crisis and violence.The CMM and the Parishad have been observing the rally for the fourth consecutive day at the Institution of Engineers of Bangladesh (IEB) in the city where 24 other front organisations also participated. In a threatening voice, the leaders said the CG should not be the rival of people by implementing the blueprint of a particular party. Chief adviser to the caretaker government created anger in the minds of agitating people by promoting the officials appointed on political consideration instead of removing them, they said. They urged the CG to refrain from committing such provoking activities. Prof AK Azad Chowdhury, Prof Abdul Ahad Chowdhury, Dr Kazi Faruk Ahmed, Nasir Uddin Yusuf, Dr Atiur Rahman, Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, AAMS Arefin Siddique, Dr Kamrul Hasan Khan, Dr Iqbal Arsalan, Awami League Central Leader Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin, Dr Abdur Razzak and others spoke at the rally. Different cultural organisations, including Udichi, Kranti, Rishiz Shilpi Goshthi and Sangskritik Oikya Jote performed songs during the intervals of the discussion. Later CCM and Parishad brought out a procession from IEB and marched through Shegunbagicha, Bijoy Nagar, Muktangan and Bangabandhu Avenue in the city.
