The victim, Jayanta Sarkar, 33, is now undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

His relatives said that a gang of local hoodlums who are trying to grab the land of Jayanta, also a businessman, made the attack on him at around 12:30pm.

Police and Rab members arrested Mohammad Alam and his four accomplices in this connection.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Hindu Bouddha Christian Oikya Parishad and Chhatra Jubo Oikya Parishd strongly condemned the attack and demanded punishment to the persons responsible.

In a statement, they said the gang has long been trying to force the family members of Jayanta out of their land through harassment and repression.
