Independent EC demanded
Leaders of Five Left Parties and Gono Mukti Andolon in a meeting yesterday demanded formation of an independent Election Commission (EC) reconstituting the present EC, says a press release.They also threatened that military intervention will not be tolerated and said that political crisis should be solved politically. The leaders demanded imprisonment and trials of people who are corrupt and declare them as disqualified for election. They will stage a demonstration at Paltan in the city on November 19 to press home their demands. Workers' Party General Secretary Saiful Haque, Jatiya Gono Front Central Coordinator Tipu Biswas, Ganatantrik Mojdur Party President Abdus Salam and Biplobi Oikya Front Convener Moshrefa Mishu also attended the meeting presided by Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal Convener Comrade Khalekuzzaman.
