Restaurant fined in Chittagong


A mobile court yesterday fined a restaurant owner Tk one lakh in the Chittagong Port area on charges of selling and preserving unhygienic food.

Magistrate of the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) Mohammad Munir Chowdhury in an anti-adulteration drive raided Orient Restaurant and found 45 kilograms of stale and adulterated food. He instantly fined the restaurant owner, a press release said.

The court destroyed the unhygienic food and asked the owner to submit a statement and sample of the quality of prepared food everyday before the court.
