CA blamed for not removing CEC

Different political parties yesterday criticised the president/chief adviser to the caretaker government for not removing the controversial Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) MA Aziz in order to ensure a free and fair election.

In separate statements, they said the president formed a committee to discuss reformation of the Election Commission with the political parties; on the other hand he called the CEC to discuss the announcement of the next national election.

If the president directs the present CEC to announce the election schedule, that would be a big hypocrisy with the nation, they said.

The organisations include Communist Party of Bangladesh, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), Workers Party of Bangladesh, Samajtantrik Mohila Forum and Jatiya Jubo Union.
