Samia attained popularity as an anchor with two TV shows Shubho Shokal and Diner Sheshey on Banglavision this year. She also anchored a talk show, titled Shanjhbela on Channel 1. Recently, she signed an agreement with the musical talent on ntv, Closeup 1 Tomakei Khujche Bangladesh as an anchor. She will soon be seen in a mega serial titled Poroshpor. Samia has also worked in quite a few TV commercials such as ads for Aktel Joy and Laser Medical Centre. She holds a bachelor's degree in English literature.

The emerging TV personality talked to The Daily Star recently. The conversation veered from her life and work to challenging assignments, among others.

Talking about the factors needed to succeed, she says, "There is no formula for success, except honesty and dedication. Everyone has to struggle in his/her own way to become the person they want to be. I am no exception to this rule and I have had to struggle too. In fact I'm still struggling. I have a long way to go and there is a lot I want to do."

Asked about the key sources of inspiration, she says, "My husband encourages me a lot. He also provides me with constructive criticism so I can improve."

Talking about her plans for the future, Samia says, "I am quite content being a model and an anchor and don't wish to pursue acting as a career. I enjoy hosting TV shows and will continue to do so. There is much room for learning and improvement in this field."
