Time running out fast to end deadlock
Says Mashhud
Unb, Dhaka
Energy Adviser Hasan Mashhud Chowdhury yesterday cautioned that time is running out fast for the political parties to respond to the caretaker government's package proposal to end the deadlock over the elections.'This is the prime moment to implement the package. After expiry of this moment in a day or two, whatever good decisions or steps are taken, it will be a futile exercise," he told reporters at his Ministry office. The adviser said the elections must be held within 90 days in accordance with the constitution and the Election Commission has initiated certain steps in this regard. He said, "If the package is not accepted in totality and if the election is not held in time, whatever good decisions are taken, it will be of no use." Stressing the need for quick response from the parties to the package proposal, the adviser said after expiry of this opportune moment, it will be pointless if someone comes and says "we are ready for elections".
