BDR man killed as train rams into truck

A member of Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) died and ten others were injured when a train rammed a truck carrying the paramilitary troops on a level crossing near Shaheed Mahbubur Rahman Cantonment at Kholahati under Parbatipur upazila of the district yesterday. The dead was identified as Lance Nayek Harun ur Rashid, driver of the truck. The injured BDR men are undergoing treatment at Rangpur Medical College Hospital. Witnesses said a Parbatipur bound local train from Lalmonirhat hit the truck on military police (MP) check post-1 level crossing at 8:15am. The truck was badly damaged, they added. The BDR men of 27 Rifles Battalion, Kurigram, were going to the cantonment by the truck to take part in a routine winter exercise, BDR and police sources said.
