BCL Man Killing
Students' strike in Rajshahi today

Demanding punishment to four members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab), who allegedly killed a Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader, Rajshahi Chhatra Sangram Parisad and 14-party combine jointly laid a siege to the office of the deputy commissioner (DC) for three hours yesterday.

The Parisad will enforce a student strike in all educational institutions in the district today.

Ahsan Habib Babu, a leader of BCL Taherpur unit and a third year student of History department of Rajshahi Government College, was killed in a Rab 'encounter' when he was gossiping with his friends at a shop.

Addressing a rally, the speakers threatened the administration saying that they would paralyse Rajshahi if the killers of Babu are not brought to justice.

They called upon local people to build resistance against the so-called 'cross fire' of Rab.

Presided over by AL district unit President Tajul Islam Md Faruque, the rally was addressed by Workers' Party politburo member Fazley Hossain Badsha, city unit AL Secretary AHM Khairuzzman Liton, Chhatra Sangram Parisad leader Abdul Momin, Jedu Sarker, Ibrahim Hossian Moon and other 14-party combine leaders.

Earlier on Tuesday, Babu's father and AL leader Afser Ali Molla lodged a murder case against four Rab officials with Rajshahi First Class magistrate's court.
