Remand of 12yr Boy
Save the Children UK concerned
Staff Correspondent
Save the Children UK yesterday expressed concern over a media report that a 12-year-old boy was taken to police remand over an allegation of vandalising the Supreme Court. Drawing attention of police authorities and the courts concerned, the organisation in a statement urged them to consider the matter from child-friendly standpoint. "The arrest of a child and putting him under 'so-called remand' is strictly prohibited as per Children Act 1974, and go against the interests of the children," it added. Save the Children UK also urged all political parties to make arrangement for the bail of all children who were arrested for their participation in different political activities.
