'Tara Festival of Bengal' in Delhi from Dec 23


With a view to showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Bangladesh and West Bengal, Tara TV Network, an Indian satellite Bangla channel, is going to organise 'Tara Festival of Bengal' in Delhi from December 23 to December 26, organisers of Tara TV Network announced at a press conference at Jatiya Press Club in the city yesterday.

The festival, first of its kind in Delhi, will represent the spirit of Bengal -- art, culture, cuisine and talents of both Bangladesh and West Bengal.

The festival would showcase six telefilms by young and talented directors, folk music, play reading by prominent personalities and cuisine of Bengal, said Nazneen Azim, country manager of Tara Network.

Lubna Mariam, an eminent Bangladeshi dance artist, said prominent singers from Bangladesh will present Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Geeti and folk songs there.

The art, crafts and photography exhibition will be a perfect reflection of exquisite art of the region, the organisers said.
