Tk 22cr goods gutted in Gazipur mill

A devastating fire gutted cotton and other valuables of a spinning factory in Sreepur upazila of the district early yesterday.Sources said the fire that might have originated from an electric short circuit at the cotton godown of Jaber Spinning Factory at Nayanpur at about 1:00am burned down huge quantity of cotton. Firefighters from Gazipur, Tongi and Dhaka rushed to the spot and doused the fire after eight hours of frantic efforts. Factory sources said about 8,500 bales of cotton and some portion the factory were damaged by the fire. Factory authorities estimated the loss at Tk 22 crore.
