Shamim Osman returns tomorrow

Former Awami League lawmaker from Narayanganj AKM Shamim Osman returns home tomorrow after living in self-exile in India for more than five years.He is scheduled to address a public meeting at Osmani Stadium tomorrow afternoon. "I'm returning home on Tuesday and will address a public meeting at Osmani Stadium in the afternoon," Shamim told UNB over phone from Kolkata yesterday. After defeat in 2001 parliamentary election, Shamim along with his family fled home and lived in self-exile in India. He faces about half a dozen cases including bomb blasts in Narayanganj Awami League office on June 16, 2001 that left at least 22 people dead. Proceedings of the cases were stayed by the High Court. A reception committee has been formed with Mofizul Islam as convener to welcome Shamim Osman. Mofizul said Shamim will address the public meeting at 3:00pm.
