Emily best in B. League


Abahani striker Zahid Hasan Emily was voted the best player of the just concluded inaugural professional football league, named as B. League.

Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) announced the name of the Dhaka Abahani, the champions of the competition, forward during the prize distribution ceremony at NSC Tower auditorium yesterday,

Chairman of the National Sports Council (NSC) and Army Chief Moeen U Ahmed was present at the function as chief guest and handed over the prizes.

The young striker, who scored 10 goals in the last nine games, received Tk 25,000 and a crest while Nigerian striker Elijah Obagbemiro Junior of Brothers Union also got Tk 25,000 and a crest as the highest scorer in the league with sixteen goals including two hattricks.

Chittagong Mohammedan Sporting Club was adjudged the most disciplined team in the league to receive the 'fair play trophy.'

Abahani received Tk 5 lakh as winners of the inaugural B. League while their bitter rival Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club got Tk 3 lakh as runners-up, third placed Muktijoddha Sangsad won Tk 2 lakh and Sheikh Russel, who finished fourth, received Tk 1 lakh.

Muktijoddha Sangsad however donated their entire prize money to the Chief Adviser's Relief Fund through the NSC chairman at the function.
