Corrected list sees a rise of 28,491 voters


The number of voters in the country rose by 28,491 to stand at 9,33,32,657 with the correction of the updated electoral roll based on the voter list of 2000.

A total of 11,60,180 new voters have been included and 11,31,759 excluded while correcting the updated list.

The electoral roll of 2000 contained 9,33,04,166 voters.

According to sources at the Election Commission (EC) Secretariat, 3,90,651 new voters have been included and 3,23,486 excluded from the updated list in Dhaka Division, 1,67,649 included and 2,45,313 excluded in Rajshahi and 1,32,923 included and 154,281 excluded in Khulna Division.

In Barisal Division, 67,619 voters have been excluded and 50,807 included in the list showing the number of voters decreased by 36,812. A total of 63,042 new voters have been included and 72,633 excluded, in Sylhet Division and in Chittagong Division 3,55,108 have been included and 2,48,427 deleted from the voter roll.
