Army arrests editor of a Kushtia daily

The army last night held Monjur Ahsan Chowdhury, the editor of Dainik Andoloner Bazar and the district correspondent for Channel-i, from his Madanpur residence in the town.

The army men who searched Monjur's residence failed to get anything but they asked him to go with them when they were leaving, his family sources said.

Police said Monjur is accused in around seven cases including theft and extortion while local journalists said the supporters of a former BNP lawmaker filed most of the cases.
