New dawn for Dwain?

Great Britain's disgraced British sprinter Dwain Chambers said he would try to compete in the world athletics championships in Osaka in August if an American football career did not take off.

Former European 100m champion Chambers was handed a two-year suspension from athletics in February 2004 for a positive test for prohibited steroid THG.

The 28-year-old took part in a two-day training camp for NFL Europe last weekend however as he made his bid to launch a professional American Football career.

Chambers' goal is to be invited to an NFL training camp in Tampa, Florida, in March as a wide-receiver.

He told the BBC news: "I've got the drive in my heart and believe I can run as fast as I have in the past. I've paid my dues and I'd still like to get back to track and field, but am going to work on this now."
