18 houses gutted in city

Some 18 tin-roofed houses were gutted in a fire in the city's Mirpur area yesterday.The fire broke out at Mirpur Section # 6, Block # C, at around 2:15pm and soon engulfed the area. A burning oven at the house of Shahidul Islam residence sparked off the blaze, local people said. Receiving information, fire fighters from nearby fire stations rushed to the scene and brought the blaze under control.
