NADPO proposals to BNP

National Alliance of Disabled People's Organisations (NADPO) has submitted a five-point proposal to BNP for ensuring the rights and dignity of the persons with disability.

A team of the National Alliance led by its President Abdus Sattar Dulal met BNP Secretary General Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan and submitted the proposals at Hawa Bhaban in the city on Tuesday as part of its efforts to sensitise the political parties to physically challenged people's issues, including their right to vote.

The proposals call for fulfilment of all pledges regarding the rights of people with disabilities, implementation of national, regional and international agreements signed by the government, establishment of a coordination ministry and induction of a minister (technical) in consultation with the organisations working for the persons with disability.

The team also proposed reserved seats at all levels of local government and 15 reserved seats in parliament for the people with disabilities.

BNP Joint Secretary General Nazrul Islam Khan and NADPO Secretary general Md Jahangir Alam were present at the meeting.
