Kabaddi WC India's

India successfully defended their Kabaddi World Cup title when the hosts defeated Iran 29-19 in the final of the second edition of the competition at the Karnala Sports Academy in Panvel, near Mumbai on Friday night.

Iran, who also finished runners-up in the inaugural World Cup two years earlier, had to remain satisfied with the second place after missing out bronze in the Asian Games in Doha last December.

Pakistan were the only powerhouses of the game missing in the three-day event due to visa problems.

Bangladesh and Japan were the losing semifinalists, eliminated by Asiad and South Asian Games gold medallists India and Iran respectively.
