Mitford student nurses on strike for security
Staff Correspondent
Some 110 student nurses of Mitford hospital went on strike from yesterday demanding security at their dormitory causing sufferings to patients. They had been complaining to the authorities concerned since January 27 demanding security at their dormitory, but the authorities remained indifferent to their issue. They first lodged a complaint with the director of the hospital on Saturday following a theft incident. The authorities informed police but they did not take any initiative in this regard. On Monday, a group of miscreants entered into the boundary of the dormitory and threw bricks at midnight. They again reported the matter to hospital authorities and gave an ultimatum to take action within 24 hours. They also filed a General Diary with Kotwali Police Station asking for security. But as the nurses did not get any assurance from the authorities they resorted to strike, sources said.
