Sources said 23 tin-shed houses and properties worth over Tk 10 lakh were gutted in a fire at city's DC Road.

The fire broke out at around 1:00pm at a house of Kafil Uddin Colony and spread fast engulfing adjoining houses.

Three fire fighting units rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire originated from electric short circuit after a two-hour effort.

In another incident, 14 tin-shed houses were reduced to ashes at Arfin Nagar Colony under Bayezid Police Station.

The fire originating from kitchen oven broke out at a house and spread fast.

Three fire fighting units doused the fire at around 2:00am and damages were estimated at Tk one lakh.

Meanwhile, packaging equipment and raw materials worth around Tk one lakh were gutted in a fire at Chittagong Packaging, located at city's Nasirabad area.

The fire was originated from electric short circuit at around 6:00am and three fire fighting units extinguished it at 7:00am.
