B. League now from March 2

Country's inaugural Professional Football League -- the B. League -- suffered another delay as the organisers yesterday decided to start it in March instead of February 15.

The 11-team competition -- with Sylhet DSA's withdrawal now official -- will now kick off on March 2 as Dhaka-based Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra and Mohammedan Sporting Club, Chittagong Abahani and Mohammedan and Khulna Abahani appealed to defer the league.

Dhaka Mohammedan, however, were the only team to appeal in paper, which reached the federation yesterday.

The executive committee of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) took the decision in its adjourned meeting which lasted about ten minutes yesterday.

BFF's marketing agent Leisure Sports Management of India had also requested the federation for a deferral to settle the sponsorship issues.

It was learned that Leisure all but secured the main sponsorship deal with Nitol-Tata as expected, but it needs some more time to lure five co-sponsors.

Sources said that the sponsors actually wanted to buy some time and conveyed the message to BFF through Leisure.

The two-month long transfer window, which began on December 14, is also expected to be extended till the start of the B. League.

The first date for the Pro League transfers was set for July 7, 2006 and the first official date for the start of the league in the first week of November same year, which has been now delayed for the umpteenth time.

Meanwhile, two representatives from each of the 11 clubs and 15 match commissioners will take part in the B. League's Event Management seminar, which will be conducted by two Asian Football Confederation officials.
