Sixty teams from six districts will take part in the first-ever Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Challenge Club Cup tournament, said BCB yesterday.

The pilot project undertaken by BCB is an effort to enliven cricket at the district level will begin on February 15 with the Mymensingh leg of the tournament.

In a press conference at the National Sports Council on Tuesday, BCB tournament committee chairman Shah Nurul Kabir Shaheen mentioned that the matches will be played with a white ball with teams wearing coloured clothing.

Ten teams from each district will be divided into two groups and the champion of the district will play the final round in Dhaka with the six champions split into two groups.

Prize money for the champions are Tk 40,000 but more importantly, teams of the final round will be provided one lakh taka for food, transportation and lodgings.

Schools Cricket
Rubel captured six wickets for 26 runs to set Matuail Multilateral School's six-wicket win over Island Pre-cadet School in the Standard Chartered Young Tigers National School Cricket Tournament.

Having shot out their opponents for 94, Matuail raced to 97-4 in just 10.3 overs.

A 76-ball 100 by Saddam spearheaded Wills Little Flower to a six-wicket victory against Shourav Smriti School while Badda Alatunnessa School dumped Uttara High School by 128 runs and Motijheel Government Boys School handed an 86-run defeat on Modern Pre-cadet School in the

day's other matches in the city.

National Junior Chess
Twenty-three players share the lead with two points after two rounds of matches in the Basic Bank 28th national junior boys and girls chess championship at the National Chess Federation hallroom.

Minhajuddin Ahmed, Shamima Akhter Liza, Sharif Hossain, Abdullah Al Saif and Farzana Hossain are among the leaders of the table after their win in the second round.

Rugby In Bangladesh!
The first-ever Club Cup Rugby tournament will begin on February 16. The three-day long meet will take place at the Paltan Maidan with four teams participating.

Bttb Annual Athletics
The 35th annual athletics competition of Bangladesh Telephone and Telegraph Board (BTTB) will begin on February 15.

Sixteen teams will take part in as many events in the competition where 139 male and 10 female competitors will take part.

Buet Inter-hall Hockey
Sher-e-Bangla Hall of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) won the inter-hall hockey tournament at the BUET ground.

Mahfuzul Islam of Kazi Nazrul Islam hall was the highest scorer while Saiful Islam of the champions hall was declared best player.
