The victim was identified as Mohammad Babul Miah, 30, of Bathhulee Purbo Para village under Basail upazila.

Babul came under attack by a gang of unidentified miscreants near his house at around 11:00pm when he was returning from Bathhulee Bazar, police and family sources said.

The miscreants beat Babul mercilessly and threw him into a nearby pond.

Local people recovered Babul in a critical condition and rushed him to Tangail General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries yesterday morning.
