Tipped off that a group of 15-20 muggers are taking preparation of mugging near Mohakhali Flyover, Gulshan police conducted a drive around 8:35pm.

Police first arrested four muggers- Kamrul, Mintu Khan, Sagor and Hira and quizzed them.

Later as per the confessional statement of the arrestees, Gulshan police arrested nine more muggers of the same group from different places of the city.

The arrestees are Nasir Uddin, Anwar, Jahangir Hossain, Mosharraf, Hossain, Milon Khan, Mainuddin, Shamim Ahmed and Mishu.

The muggers admitted that they have been involved in mugging at several points from Mohakhali to Shatrasta for a long time.

Police seized a knife, six mobile sets and cash worth Tk 38,800.

Meanwhile, detective branch (DB) police arrested another four muggers from city's Mirpur area on Monday night.

They are Nur Hossain, Barek, Hafiz Shikdar and Shahidul Islam.

DB police said the arrestees used to commit mugging by taxicab at different points of Mirpur area.
