SWID's committee dissolved

The Ministry of Social Welfare yesterday dissolved the national executive committee of the Society for the Welfare of the Intellectually Disabled (SWID), Bangladesh and formed a caretaker body to run its affairs.The new body consists of Md Zulfikar Haider as convener, Prof Gias Uddin Mollah, Nur Mostofa Al Amin, AGM Badruzzaman and a member of NFOWD (National Forum of Organisations Working with the Disabled). The ministry dissolved the SWID's national committee on charges of its non-transparent handling of over 34 kathas of land at Eskaton in the city. The committee tried to construct a multistoried building on that land amid protest of some of its members.
