Detained former BNP lawmaker from Bogra Helaluzzman Talukder Lalu was sent to Bogra jail with one-month detention yesterday.

The crack forces also raided his house and nearby BNP's Senior Joint Secretary General Tarique Rahman's house. They seized government relief materials and other goods from the garage that is used by both Lalu and Tarique when he visits Bogra.

However, the joint forces did not find anything mentionable raiding Tarique's house.

A police seizure list include 10 pieces of blanket contained in a carton marked 'blankets of prime minister's relief fund', one carton of shirts, one sack of lungi, 30 pieces of maxis (woman's cloth), 260 pieces of blankets, 25 pieces of carom boards, 35 tube wells, 160 pieces of tube well pipes and five sacks of jugs.

Five wireless sets, one wireless base station and a tower were also recovered from Lalu's house, according to a seizure list prepared by Rapid Action Battalion (Rab).

The crack forces also arrested 1,170 people including two union parishad (UP) chairmen from Batiaghata in Khulna and Baufal in Patuakhali during the 24 hours ending at 6:00am yesterday as part of its ongoing countrywide drive.

The court ordered sending Lalu to jail after Bogra Sadar police produced him before it with a forwarding report seeking one-month detention under the Special Powers Act, reports our staff correspondent in Bogra.

LDP Presidium Member former whip and MP MA Karim Abbasi was given one-month detention yesterday evening following a home ministry order, reports our Netrakona correspondent.

Abbasi was arrested on February 10 from his residence at Mukterpara in Durgapur upazila headquarters in the district.
