PBCP leader killed in encounter with Rab

A leader of underground outfit Purba Banglar Communist Party (Red Flag) was killed in an encounter with Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in Ataikhola upazila yesterday evening, a Rab official said.The dead was identified as Abdur Gafur alias Jamai Gafur, 35. Acting on a tip-off, a team of Rab-12 cordoned off a mango garden at Sunapore village at about 7:45pm. Sensing the Rab presence, the outlaws fired at them while the law enforcers responded with gunshots. After a brief gunfight, the extremists escaped from the scene, leaving the body of Gafur. Rab recovered one shutter gun along with one bullet from the spot.
