Ban on honking horns at some city points

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a ban on honking horns by vehicles at certain places of the city.

"Honking horns creates various problems, including sound pollution, for the city dwellers," said a DMP release last night.

It said no vehicles will be allowed to honk horns within 200 yards of mosques and temples, hospitals, offices, courts and educational institutions.

Honking horn has also been banned from Sonargaon Hotel crossing of the VIP road to PG Hospital crossing, the release said, adding that actions will be taken against the violators.
