Moudud pulls for police aspirants
Writ petition filed to challenge cancellation order

A government decision canceling the recruitment of 757 police personnel, including sub-inspectors and sergeants, was challenged in the High Court yesterday.

A dozen aggrieved persons filed a writ petition challenging the legality of the government's decision cancelling their appointments and postings.

A High Court Division bench comprising Justice Syed M Dastagir Husain and Justice Mamnoon Rahman will hear the writ petition today, said Barrister Moudud Ahmed, counsel for the petitioners.

According to press reports, the caretaker government, smelling a rat in the process of recruitment, cancelled the appointments and postings of the police personnel made at the fag end of the immediate past BNP-led alliance government.
