Workshop on gender begins
A two-day training workshop on 'Gender: Concepts and Issues' for Upazila women affairs officers began on the Dhaka University campus yesterday, says a press release.

Dr Najma Chowdhury, founder-chairperson of the Department of Women and Gender Studies, DU, inaugurated the workshop organised by the department.

The main objective of the training is to sensitise the newly recruited Upazila women affairs officers to the concept of gender and other vital issues, such as, patriarchy, gender relations, roles, needs, equality, violence against women and women's empowerment.

The resource persons of the training are Dr Nazmunnessa Mahtab, Dr Sadeka Halim, Fowzia Khondhker, Runa Laila and Soma Dey.
