In Naogaon, police arrested five JMB militants at different villages of Atrai and Raninagar upazilas early yesterday.

The arrestees are Abul Hossain Master, 38, Mosharraf Hossain, 27, and Raja Mia, 33, of Atrai upazila, and Babu alias Mostafa, 30, and Abdur Rahim, 38, of Raninagar upazila.

Abul Hossain Master was a "close associate" of JMB kingpin Siddiqul Islam alias Bangla Bhai and also chief of JMB Atrai upazila unit, while Mosharaf Hossain was the second-in-command of the outfit in the same upazila. Both were wanted in murder and abduction cases.

In Natore, Detectives arrested two JMB militants in Naldanga upazila on Thursday.

Acting on a tip-off, the DB men arrested JMB cadres Dr Shahadat Hossain in Pirgacha area and Abdul Jalil Member at Chaukhali village.

Both were sent to jail hajat.
